Meet the Owners of Grit & Grace Western Wear

Grit & Grace Western Wear was built on faith, family, and a dream that quickly became a reality.

Connie had recently retired after selling her highly successful garage door business. After less than a year of retirement, she realized sitting still just wasn’t for her. She had always dreamed of opening a western store that would serve our community, and one Sunday morning, while sitting on the back porch, she shared that dream with her daughter, Kelsey.

At the time, Kelsey was in her second semester of nursing school. She still remembers that conversation like it was yesterday. Connie looked at her and asked, “Would you be my partner?” After some excitement and a little planning, they knew there was one more person they wanted by their side—Janet.

Janet had retired after an incredible career as a firefighter and paramedic with the St. Lucie County Fire District. She had been enjoying retirement for eight years, but it didn’t take much convincing to bring her into this adventure. Once the three of us decided to take the leap, there was no turning back. By that very evening, we were already searching for the perfect storefront.

Within just ten weeks, we had found our building, completely gutted and renovated it, built relationships with vendors across the country, ordered our very first inventory, and turned an empty space into the store we had envisioned. The journey wasn’t always easy. There were plenty of obstacles, long days, and moments where we questioned how we’d get it all done. But through every challenge, we leaned on one another, stayed united as a family, and kept moving forward.

Our hometown deserved a western store that offered more than just boots and clothing. We wanted to create a place with stylish, high-quality apparel, reasonable prices, and a welcoming atmosphere where every customer feels like family.

Today, Grit & Grace Western Wear is proudly family-owned and operated. Every item on our shelves has been carefully selected, every customer is greeted with a smile, and every success we’ve experienced is because of the incredible support from our community.

From our family to yours—thank you for believing in our dream. We can’t wait to continue serving you for many years to come.
